It’s British Science Week from 7th to 16th March and we have had lots of exciting science activities taking place in school.
Each day, during lunchtime, teachers carried out pop up experiments in the playground; the children were excited and wowed by Coca-Cola and watermelon volcanoes, balloons inflating using only bicarbonate of soda and vinegar and other fun investigations.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Sparkie Malarkey visited both schools to lead thoroughly engaging workshops that left children buzzing and inspired to develop as budding scientists. At the end of the day, both schools came together for the exhilarating finale-a wacky rockets display that not only sent plastic bottles whizzing across the playground but sent the children wild in amazement!
Our Science Showcase on Friday was a fantastic way for the children to share with parents and each other the science topics they have been learning about.
“I love science because it’s interesting and we do lots of investigations,” year 6 pupil.
